In 2012, I was the CTO and co-founder of a startup in NYC; when it first started, it was just four guys trying to change the world. We all had different personalities and ways to inject culture into our little project and mine was the whiskey club. The other engineer helping me create the project, a proper Frenchman, had an affinity for whiskey, while the other two were just learning about its complexities.

The idea is simple; on Fridays, we’d let loose towards the end of the day over the stresses of the days past, pay $5 per glass towards the next bottle and when the whiskey runs low, get a new bottle. When we were only a small group, it would take us several weeks to finish a bottle, but now I work for a much larger company and I need to get a new bottle almost every week, but this comes with a great advantage; variety. Over the past few years, I’ve bought a lot of whiskey for the club and have created a lot of reviews for each bottle as a way to introduce the label to the members, no matter if they’re newbies or experts in whiskey.

This series of posts will be my way to publicize these accumulated whiskey reviews and hopefully help others around the world in their discovery and enjoyment of this great historical drink.

Cheers,

M
